Kate Middleton and Prince William planning modest nursery

Kate Middleton and Prince William are said to be planning a modest nursery for their royal baby. Kate, who is fast approaching her July due date, is believed to be getting the royal nursery at Nottingham Cottage, where the couple have been living, in order in time for her baby's arrival.

Carole Middleton, Kate's mother, recently said her first grandchild will be a Leo, the star sign for those born between 24 July and 23 August, so with a couple of months to go William and Kate have been putting the finishing touches to their baby's first room."

They have a small nursery prepped," a source told US Weekly. "But it's humble. Kate felt it wasn't worth the money to go all-out."

The modest nursery could be a practical move on William and Kate's behalf as they are currently renovating Anmer Hall on the Queen's Sandringham estate as well as apartment 1A in Kensington Palace.

Plans for the two homes, one which will be their London base and the other a country retreat, will include a room for the child that will one day ascend to the throne, but for now the nursery remains low-key. Kate has been spotted buying furniture and accessories for her baby.

The Duchess of Cambridge was spotted shopping with her mother at a London boutique in April, leaving with a Moses basket. Earlier in the month, Kate, 31, revealed that she and William still had "a lot to do" with regard to their nursery.

It is also believed that in the days following the birth, Kate will move back to the Middleton family home in Berkshire, before returning to London.

In a break with royal tradition Kate reportedly told friends she planned to take the new baby back to Bucklebury to be around her parents, Carole and Michael, as she adjusts to life as a new mum.

Kate is very close to Carole and Michael and broke with royal tradition late last year when she and husband Prince William chose to spend Christmas at the Middleton's £4.85million Georgian home, rather than at the Queen's Sandringham Estate.

Situated in the countryside, the secluded house will give the royal couple and their newborn more privacy and having Carole, who also has daughter Pippa Middleton and son James Middleton, around will provide new-mum Kate with invaluable support.
