It is the new mum's first event as patron of SportsAid and the visit will see her learn more about the charity's support for budding young athletes. She will watch the youngsters taking part in a number of activities, including wheelchair basketball, CP football, volleyball, fencing and badminton.

The diligent Duchess will then join athletes and their parents as they attend educational workshops about media and social media training, nutrition in sport and general guidance. The 31-year-old will also meet Olympic rower Katherine Grainger, Paralympic basketball star Ade Adepitan and swimmer Karen Pickering, all of whom have been supported by the organisation.

The sporty royal became a figurehead for the youth sports charity in April this year in a move that reflected her enthusiasm for "supporting children and young people to build their skills, confidence and aspirations". Kate's charity visit to the Olympic Park will no doubt bring back memories of the summer of 2012. The former school hockey team captain paid a visit to the east London venue and was seen showcasing her stick skills with Great Britain's Olympic team.

Since the birth of Prince George she has attended two engagements with her husband Prince William by her side.At the end of August she thrilled crowds in Anglesey by accompanying the Duke of Cambridge to start an ultra-marathon on the island.

The low-key engagement ensured a smooth transition back into the public eye and showed that she was eager to get back to work after giving birth in July.A few days later she dazzled in a floor-length sequin gown by Jenny Packham as she attended a charity dinner in London. The Duchess's last solo royal engagement took place around five weeks before the birth of her first child.

Prince William's wife followed in royal tradition as she officially christened the Princess Cruises' newest liner, Royal Princess. The Queen and Diana, Princess of Wales were both named godmother to their vessels — the late Princess of Wales named the original Royal Princess in 1984. Kate pulled out all the stops for her final appearance before becoming a mum and won fashion plaudits for her leopard print monochrome coat and black fascinator.
