Prince Charles, 65, and Camilla, 66, were spotted dashing into the building to escape the rain and were given a warm welcome by some of the BBC's biggest radio presenters including Chris Evans and Jo Whiley.

The royal couple looked delighted to speak to employees about their roles and learn about the technology and day-to-day running of the corporation. Charles sat in on an editorial meeting followed by a meet with Radio 4 newsreader Kathy Clugston, who talked through her morning news bulletin that featured Charles and Camilla's visit.

The royal pair then surprised workers at the Radio 1 studios when they popped in to say hello and watch Tom Odell perform in the Live Lounge. Joined by renowned DJ Fearne Cotton, Charles and Camilla waited to chat to the Another Love singer after his set.

Next stop on their schedule was the Classic FM and Heart studios on Leicester Square. Excitement was in the air as Charles and Camilla were first shown into John Suchet's studio at Classic FM where they chatted to the presenter. The couple were also introduced to presenters Emma Bunton, Myleene Klass and Lisa Snowdon among others.

Charles and Camilla's final radio stop for the day was at Bauer Radio, whose stations include Kiss FM and Magic 105.4. As president of youth charity The Prince's Trust, Charles was especially delighted to hear about Kiss FM's work in support of young people and his foundation.

The royal's visit comes just a week after Charles spent the morning in Tottenham, north London where he learnt about how his charity had contributed to the redevelopment of the area following the 2011 riots.
