There will also be sets from West End stars Sheridan Smith and Amber Riley, who will be performing a song from the Tony Award winning musical Dreamgirls. Dance troupe Diversity will be returning to the show, along with comedy sets from Alan Davies, Joe Lycett and Rob Beckett.

Speaking of hosting the show, David said: "I'm very honoured and excited to be hosting the Royal Variety Performance. I was lucky enough to host back in 2012 so will be looking forward to another fabulous evening with huge talent."

Taking place on 6th December this year, the show is in aid of the Royal Variety Charity, which aims to raise money for people in entertainment in need of care.

Last year Prince Harry took over the role from his grandmother the Queen and his father Prince Charles to attend the show, where host Jack Whitehall jokily teased the fifth-in-line to the throne.

"I think you're the first person to get a Victoria Cross for bravery just for stepping out of the shade in Afghanistan,” he said during the evening. "I mean a ginger in that heat!"

The Prince responded by jokily refusing to shake Jack's hand for a moment following the show.
