Two of the most famous designers to work on the Queen's wardrobe are Norman Hartnell, who created her wedding gown, and Sir Hardy Amies. But many of her outfits are by John Anderson and Karl-Ludwig Rehse, who also designs for the Queen Mother. "I never design fashionable slinky skirts for her," says John, 60. "Her clothes must be easy to move in, so most of her dresses have A-line or softly gathered skirts. It's difficult to slide elegantly out of a car in a tight, short skirt."
