A new luxury resort in the Dominican Republic

The endless white sand beaches of Punta Cana are lined with graceful coconut palms and tropical flowers, and framed by the turquoise waves of the Caribbean; this is the location NH Hotels have chosen for their newest hotel.

An idyllic and exclusive resort, the latest addition to the Spanish hotel chain offers personalised service and the most sophisticated all-inclusive amenities for adults only. No under-eighteens are allowed, making it an ideal destination for customers seeking total relaxation and tranquility away from the hectic pace of daily life.

Set on the coast of the Dominican province of Altagracia, overlooking the dunes of the three-kilometre-long Playa Bavaro beach, the new resort has 369 rooms and four spectacular suites over a hundred square metres, all with terrace and the finest amenities to ensure a stay of pure indulgence. The hotel design - two parallel buildings, three storeys high, separated by a garden of tropical flowers and coconut palms and a magnificent pool - is structured to ensure that most rooms enjoy fabulous views.

All the rooms are furnished in warm tropical woods and rattan, and decorated in bright shades of fuchsia and green which provides a warm contrast to the blue of the ocean. Each room has a private outdoor Jacuzzi and air conditioning. The sea views from the suites are particularly impressive; there is butler service, and the two ground floor suites offer direct access to the beach.

There are plenty of sports and leisure activities on offer at the resort, including snorkeling, diving among the fascinating varieties of colourful fish that inhabit the clear waters - or observing them from glass bottomed boats - catamaran rides, kite surfing and horseback excursions along the beach.

As well as an impressive 2,000 metre pool in the form of 'swim-up' which runs like a canal through the gardens of the hotel, guests can enjoy the pleasures on offer at the hotel's state-of-the-art spa. There are classes in yoga, tai chi and meditation, and the therapies combine the best of Eastern and Western cultures to cater for mind and body. Full gym facilities are available as well as tennis courts, paddleball courts, basketball and paintball area.

In terms of gastronomy, three sophisticated restaurants provide varied and delightful menus: El Mortero Mexican restaurant provides tasty regional specialities, while the Pure bistro offers fusion-style and international cuisine. Then there's the Festival buffet restaurant set right on the beach, and there are three bars, including beach bar and poolside, serving a wide range of cocktails and other exotic drinks.
