With a gym, massage rooms, a 450-square-metre spa, rooms equipped with private jacuzzi on the terrace, and a range of other exclusive services and details, everything about Cala Grande invites you to kick back and let your senses relax. Located in the fishing village of Las Negras, in the Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park, the hotel is in the traditional local style of country houses and perfectly in keeping with the setting. The different outdoor areas provide a sense of space while the minimalist straight lines give the whitewashed building a bright and modern look.
There are three round villas set in the the garden, each with secluded private terrace with jacuzzi, and five suites with magnificent terraces of up to 45 square metres, also equipped with jacuzzi. Most of the spacious rooms offer breathtaking views of the Cerro Negro – the 'black hill' – and the sea in the bay which gives the hotel its name – Cala Grande – 'big cove'. The Natural Park that surrounds the hotel provides ample choice for excursions on foot, by bike or by car: there are a number of secluded coves and beaches along this stretch of coast, and picturesque villages such as La Isleta del Moro, Rodalquilar, San Jose and Nijar offer a chance to discover the typical local crafts.
At the Mandragora restaurant, with its great outdoor terrace, you can dine al fresco on fine cuisine made from typical local produce including fresh Mediterranean fish, and sample the chef's speciality pastas. The hotel spa is a place for relaxation, and offers a wide range of facilities including sauna, Turkish bath with spray shower, cold water pool, contrast showers with colour therapy, and an indoor pool. There are also four beauty booths where you can enjoy treatments and therapies that blend Eastern tradition with Western high tech: chiromassage, oriental massage with pindas (warmed spice bundles), cacao wraps, mineral mud treatments and a range of facial and body hydration treatments.
