Set in a grade-two listed building in Bournemouth's elegant West Cliff district, just a few minutes from the town centre and the award-winning beaches, the Chocolate Boutique Hotel boasts of being the only chocolate-themed hotel in the world.
The nineteenth-century mansion - a real 'chocolate-box hotel' - is decorated throughout in chocolatey shades, from the rich dark leather of the sofas in the Chocolate Bar – where speciality cocktails are served, of course – to the creamy white of the linens on the comfortable beds. With thirteen unique rooms and suites all focused on the sweet delicacy, there are treats galore in store for guests.
The specially-themed weekends start with a champagne reception where the bubbly flows, and so does the chocolate, in a cascading Belgian chocolate fountain set up for mouthwatering marshmallow dipping. The ancient delicacy will be around in all its shapes and forms throughout the weekend, from the home-made drinking chocolate, to the chocolate treats in every room, cocktails, and specially decorated goodies.
You'll have plenty of free time to explore the delights of the pretty seaside town of Bournemouth, but there are workshops, too, where you can learn to make superb Belgian truffles under the expert eye of a professional chocolatier. In another workshop you'll learn about the history of chocolate and also get the chance to explore the art of pairing – matching the different types of sweet delights with appropriate wines and spirits.
If a little of what you fancy does you good, what might a whole chocolate weekend do?
