Where George Clooney might tie the knot with Amal Alamuddin: Villa Oleandra on Lake Como

Just four months ago Hollywood hunk George Clooney surprised fans with the news of his engagement to high-flying British lawyer love Amal Alamuddin. Now, their imminent wedding is one of the most hotly anticipated events of the year.

While the exact date for the nuptials has not been revealed, it is thought that George and Amal are set on tying the knot in September, at George's favourite villa on the banks of Lake Como, Villa Oleandra.

The actor recently requested a law be passed to prevent public trespassing around the villa, both by foot and boat. It is thought this is in advance of a September wedding to fiancée Amal.

Lake Como's idyllic, dreamy surroundings provide the perfect backdrop to the Hollywood hunk's highly anticipated wedding.

George has always loved "la dolce vita Italiana", and bought Villa Oleandra in 2002. It previously belonged to the Heinz family.

The palacial villa has its own private, secluded swimming pool, as well as being metres away from Lake Como itself, making it a sure winner for a fairytale wedding.

Many of Hollywood's stars are on the guestlist. Vogue's Anna Wintour is thought to have been invited, along with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Cindy Crawford and hubby Rande Gerber.

After scouting several possible wedding locations, George and Amal have set their hearts on saying "I do" in George's favourite Villa Oleandra, situated perfectly on the banks of Lake Como, Italy.

Situated in the small Italian town of Laglio, in Lombardy, the American star has frequently been spotted with previous girlfriends Stacy Keibler and Elisabetta Canalis out on the lake.

The 18th century villa is one of three homes the Ocean's Twelve star owns around Lake Como, and is supposedly his favourite. Having bought it for $12million in 2002, it is where he will now wed his British lawyer fiancée, Amal.
