Barcelona Bridal Week 2014: collections to look out for

Share this:

Barcelona Bridal Week will once again wash up on the shores of the Spanish city, when brides will flock from all corners of the world to see the latest wedding dresses on offer.

The four-day event, dubbed as Pasarela Gaudí Novias, will see 23 fashion houses come under one roof to showcase their spring 2015 collections.

Barcelona firm Rosa Clará will kick start the jam-packed schedule and debut her new gowns — one of the most anticipated shows as proved by the throngs of guests, celebrities and press who have queued up to see Rosa's designs in the past.

Last year, Rosa stunned with her elegant column dresses and her big, ball gown, tulle skirts. And not to mention her daring take on the modern bride, which placed models in ivory, satin cigarette trousers instead of the traditional gown.

With her label starting in 1995, Rosa's promise was to inject "fashion" into the bridal world. "I knew then that I had something important to do, to contribute more creativity, bring more innovation, and above all, more design flair to the sector," she writes on her website.

Other designers who will unveil their 2015 collections and fight for brides' attention on the second day of the show include Jesús Peiró, Raimon Bundó and Inmaculada García — labels who all starred at last year's event.

Day three will feature bold designers such as Isabel Zapardiez, who last year focused her collection on metallic tones and textured materials. Sonia Peña and Patricia Avedaño will also return to flaunt not only unique creations for brides, but also party and occasion wear for wedding guests.

Pronovias' dresses from Barcelona Bridal Week 2013

On the final day of the event, the catwalk will belong to celebrity-favourite Pronovias who will showcase its romantic wedding dresses. The Spanish brand showcased a variety of gowns last year, ranging from the Kate Middleton-inspired lace, long sleeved designs to the more daring thigh-high slit numbers.

Elie Saab also showcased its specific collection for Pronovias.

Andalusian designer Juana Martin will be making her debut at the Barcelona event, with her very first wedding gown collection going on display on the last day. Carla Ruiz with party dresses and Fuetecapala with designs for the groom will add the finishing touch.

Barcelona Bridal Week will take place from 6 to 9 May at the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via.
