Oscars-inspired bridal gowns: Walking down the red carpet aisle

Share this:

Flooded in chiffon and silk, each year's Academy Awards brings a wealth of red carpet gowns that would make any bride-to-be blush with envy.Amongst the glitz and the glamour of this year's Oscars 2013 sequined embossed dresses featured an array of delicate pinks, dove grey and ivory white gowns sported by Hollywood's most stylish women. Providing some simply exquisite inspiration for wedding-day-wear, Jennifer Lawrence led the way with her strapless haute couture gown from Dior.

The Silver Linings Playbook actress, 22, may not have dressed in mind for a wedding but it was, without a doubt, her special day. Taking home the Best Actress award for her role alongside actor Bradley Cooper, Jennifer – who was recently named the new Miss Dior – looked radiant in the designer's ivory white creation. Featuring a slim cut at the waist which showed off the actress' athletic body, the gown also spanned out at the base with a glamorous amount of volume. Also in white, Charlize Theron followed suit in Dior as she impressed in a floor-length peplum design. A perfect combination of flowing fabrics and structural sophistication, the bright ivory gown's strapless cut also showed off the actress' new shaven crop.Anne Hathaway’s choice of a pale pink Prada gown may have been a self-confessed last minute pick but its floor-length shift design is ideal for an elegant look to wear up the aisle.

Cut high to the neck, the silk gown keeps its relatively discreet drama at its back. With a slight split in the skirt exposing a glimpse of Anne's perfectly polished calves, the dress' upper back was exposed except for ribbons which tied together the outfit with a chic finish.Oscar de la Renta remains a firm favourite amongst both brides and red-carpet wearers – and it was definitely a successful choice by actress Amy Adams on Oscars night.

A classic princess cut, the silver-grey dress showed off a fitted bodice dotted with hand stitched beading that descended into a wide textured skirt which each layer was frayed by hand to give the effect of eyelashes.Only narrowly missing out on an award with her nomination for Best Supporting Actress in The Master, Amy's princess-inspired gown will no doubt be remembered as one of the best dressed from the evening.
