Godfather of House music Frankie Knuckles dies

The Godfather of House music, Frankie Knuckles, has died aged 59.

A pioneer of the genre which emerged from Chicago in the 1980s, Frankie’s death was confirmed on Twitter by his fellow house DJ, David Morales.

"I am devastated to write that my dear friend Frankie Knuckles has passed away today,” David said, then added: "Can't write anymore than this at the moment. I'm sorry.

His death was unexpected however several music websites are reporting the death is related to Type 2 diabetes which the DJ suffered from.

Frankie was known for remixing tracks by Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson, as well as releasing his own work including Your Love, which is better known as the backing track to Candi Staton’s You Got The Love.
