Duchess of York to return to reality TV role

Friday May 1, 2009

Sarah Ferguson is to spend time on a housing estate for a new ITV1 programme, in which she'll aim to inject a heart and community spirit  into the neighbourhood.
Having spent much of the last decade in the States, Sarah was apparently shocked to return to the UK to discover a place whose lack of community spirit made it  unrecognisable. As a mother she believes women hold the key to making things better in fractured communities.
In the show, called The Sarah Ferguson Project, the Duchess wants to galvanise the female members of the households into raising standards, expectations and ambitions.
"I’m convinced that if we can start to give people a sense of community spirit they can start to work together to improve their local area and lifestyles," she says.
She hopes to come up with a blueprint for change that could help the families she meets after being shown the ropes by one family and learning about the area from them.
