Julian Fellowes wants fourth series of 'Downton'

Wednesday August 1, 2012

Downton Abbey screenwriter Julian Fellowes has revealed he is planning a fourth series of the popular costume drama.

Whilst it has yet to be confirmed, the 62-year-old said it is a "definite yes in my heart."

He added: "I would be writing it and I have a a pretty good idea of what I would do with it too."

There were rumours earlier this year that Dame Magggie Smith, who plays the Dowager Countess of Grantham, would not be returning for the third series of the ITV show.

However Dame Maggie is set to appear on screens again when the series returns in September.

Lord Fellowes added that he would do everything in his power to keep her in the programme.

"I can tell you that, even if she doesnt want to be in the show, she wont die. She'll go to the seaside just in case she wants to comeback" he said.
