'Expectations are good': Michael Douglas talks cancer

Wednesday September 1, 2010

In his first interview since his cancer diagnosis, Michael Douglas has said the chances of recovery are 80 per cent.

Looking remarkably upbeat and joking continuously, the actor told US talk show host David Letterman that he is one-week into a course of radiation and chemotherapy.

Michael, 65, explained that he has "stage four cancer", which, he said, was "intense and so they've had to go at it".

This is the latest blow for the star in what is proving to be his annus horribilis.

Earlier this year his son Cameron was jailed for five years on drugs charges.

Meanwhile, his former wife Diandra is suing him for a share in the proceeds of his latest movie Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

She claims that their divorce agreement entitles her to do so.
