New fears for Michael's health as Catherine jets home

Friday October 1, 2010

Moved to tears as she spoke of her husband this week, Catherine Zeta-Jones said that Michael Douglas is "holding up very, very well" in the face of his chemotherapy treatment.

But her return to the US just one day later has sparked concern for the Wall Street actor's health.

It seems there's been some confusion over the scheduled length of Catherine's trip.

Following her appearance at the Welcome to Wales concert, the Hollywood star - pictured after landing at New York's JFK airport - seemingly indicated she would stay in Cardiff for the Ryder Cup this weekend.

But according to her spokesman, her intention was always to stay for one day.

"She never said she was staying for the Ryder Cup and in fact she made it clear she was only here for the opening night.

"Those were always the arrangements."

It is also being reported that the Oscar-winning star has turned down the chance to play Vivien Leigh because she doesn't want to spend time apart from her husband.

According to the Daily Mail, Catherine had been asked to play Laurence Olivier's second wife in My Week With Marilyn, also starring Michelle Williams, Kenneth Branagh and Judi Dench, but has now decided against it.
