Mickey Rourke dedicates handprints to grandmother

Tuesday November 1, 2011

There was a very special lady on Mickey Rourke's mind as he was honoured with hand and footprints outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre in LA.

The actor dedicated the happy day to his late grandmother, who raised him and his brother Joe.

"Thank you to my grandmother because I wouldn't be here if I didn't have the love she gave me," he said.

Mickey, 58, added that she would have had firm views on how he should conduct himself during the ceremony.

"She would have told me to stand up straight, keep my shoulders back, 'make sure you take that god-damn toothpick out of your mouth'," said the colourful screen hero.

Unfortunately, Mickey's grandmother didn't get to witness his proud moment this week.

Instead, the star was accompanied by his pretty young girlfriend.

The Iron Man 2 star has been dating Russian model Anastassija Makarenko for over two years after meeting her on a photoshoot.

He has described the 24-year-old as "a gift from heaven".
