St James’s Palace has apparently refused to reveal the name of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's new dog.
William and Kate welcomed the puppy about two months ago, and keep him in their rented farmhouse in North Wales.
A spokesman said: “He is a private pet and they do not want his name to be made public although the couple are happy to confirm that they do, indeed, have a new dog.
The new addition to the family is thought to be a three-month old male cocker spaniel.
Royal sources say the black pup comes from a litter bred by Kate's mother Carole Middleton, who loves dogs.
William is also an animal lover. His black labrador Widgeon died about two years ago.
This new dog will keep his wife company while he is away in the Falkland Islands on search and rescue duty.
