Queen 'deeply shocked' by Cumbria killings

Thursday June 3, 2010

As Britain remains in shock after the tragic killings of 13 people near the Lake District, the Queen has expressed her sympathy to those who are grieving.

"I was deeply shocked by the appalling news from Cumbria," said the British monarch, who followed Prime Minister David Cameron to address the nation.

"In asking you to pass my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy to the families of all those who were killed or injured, and to the injured themselves, I am sure I share in the grief and horror of the whole country," she added.
