'Corrie' stars get royal visit from lifelong fan Camilla

Thursday February 4, 2010

It was no ordinary day at the 'office' for the cast of Coronation Street this week.

The Manchester clan were treated to a visit from Prince Charles' wife Camilla.

In celebration of the soap's 50th anniversary, the Duchess of Cornwall met with the stars - who she referred to as their character names, and watched as a scene took place inside the legendary Rovers Return pub.

Camilla also provided the cast entertainment as she poked fun at her pint-pouring skills.

"I hope I'm not going to spill it. Who is going to drink this afterwards? Any takers?" she said as she tried her hand as a barmaid.

After checking it was "on the house", Ryan Thomas, who plays builder Jason Grimshaw, opted to try the royal pint.

"In the 10 years I have been here it is the best pint I have had," he told a proud Camilla.

The Duchess was following in the footsteps of her husband who visited the set in 2000, and the Queen in 1982.
