Young Royal Zara Phillips swaps land-based equestrian activity for sailing in the open water as she takes part in Cowes Week on the Isle of Wight.
Zara, 29, who is the second child of Princess Anne, participated in the annual Artemis Challenge on Tuesday.
The race consists of a fleet of six yachts sailing around the island to win money for charity.
Zara joined Amy Williams, gold medallist in the skeleton bob at this year's Winter Games, on board the Artemis Ocean Racing to assist helmsman and double Olympic medallist Simon Hiscocks and his team.
They competed against British sailor Dee Caffari, who was joined on her boat by Martin Bayfield -
former rugby international and Robbie Coltrane's body double as Hagrid in the Harry Potter films.
Martin's co-stars Oliver and James Phelps, who play twins Fred and George Weasley, worked together with GMTV’s Emma Crosby on board another yacht.
Despite her storming success on the race track on dry land, Zara and Amy couldn't quite rein in a victory, and came in third place behind British yachtsman Mike Golding, who won £10,000 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
Zara, who also tackled the Artemis Challenge last year, said: "It was a really good atmosphere on board, we had a good team and we all worked really well together; it was easy for us as the crew know the boat so well.
"It’s great to finish on the podium and to have made it round the Island."
