Barack's fishy fun as Michelle relishes more family time

Friday September 4, 2009

Happy family scenes depicted the Obama family's summer break this year. But that didn't mean America's president didn’t get the chance to indulge in some 'boys only' time.

Official pictures on the White House blog show Barack Obama having a blast during a fishing trip near Belgrade, Montana as part of his annual break.

And despite coming close to hooking himself some dinner in this snap, the dad-of-two and local fishing guide Dab Vermillion were all smiles as the lucky trout squirmed away.

Meanwhile First Lady Michelle has spoken about one of the perks of having a husband who works in the White House – more family time.

Prior to becoming the president, Mr Obama was often away from his Chicago home, but now he is on hand to be with his loved ones much more often.

"It's been the greatest single benefit for us as a family," said Michelle, who refers to herself as 'mom in chief'.

"It means we see each other every day. And that hasn’t happened for most of the kids' lifetime"

"To see him in the mornings before they go to school, to have him there when they go to bed…that's terrific," she told Woman & Home magazine.

"It's more normal than it's been for a long time."
