Tiger Woods hit with payoff claims amid affair reports

Friday December 4, 2009

The saga surrounding Tiger Woods' personal life contines.

In the latest twist, he has been accused of offering Rachel Uchitel $1 million to stop her talking about their supposed affair.

New York club promoter Rachel, who had denied a romance with the golf ace, called for a press conference on Thursday to give more details about their "relationship".

Reports suggested she was considering revealing details about their month-long fling.

But hours before she was due to speak, Rachel cancelled the event amid suggestions Tiger's rep had been in touch, and that there had been a flurry of phone calls.

Celebrity website Radar Online has said she was offered the sum not to talk, although TMZ have reported her decision was not to do with money, but rather her desire to lie low.

Her lawyer said the conference had been called off due to "unforeseen circumstances".

Two other women, Jaimee Grubbs and Kalika Moquin, have come forward to claim they had affairs with Tiger, who made a public apology earlier this week.

Meanwhile the 33-year-old sportsman and wife Elin are holed up in their Florida mansion undergoing intense marriage counselling, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The paper reports that the 29-year-old blonde and her husband are having sessions several times a day in the privacy of their home.
