Hearing for Michael Jackson's doctor begins

Wednesday January 5, 2011

A preliminary hearing into Michael Jackson's death has begun in LA.

Prosecutors will be giving evidence over the next few days to help a judge determine whether there is enough evidence to try his physician, Doctor Conrad Murray.

He faces up to four years in prison if convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

Several members of the Jackson family, including Michael's mother Katherine and brother Jermaine (pictured) were present at the hearing.

They listened as a prosecutor told the court that Dr Murray phoned paramedics only after Michael had died.

There were also claims that he attempted to hide evidence and did not properly perform CPR.
