The Rolling Stones to rock London's Film Festival

Wednesday September 5, 2012

The Rolling Stones are among the names expected at this year's London Film Festival.

The veteran rockers are rumoured to appear at the world premiere of Crossfire Hurricane - the latest film about their lengthy career.

Directed by Brett Morgen, the film will be screened in cinemas in October and then broadcast on BBC Two later in the year.

Crossfire Hurricane is not the only rock-inspired film on show. Spike Island tells the story of a group of young musicians desperate to watch the Stone Roses' legendary gig at the Cheshire venue.

Over the 12 day festival, which opens on October 10, 225 films will be shown, begining with the Tim Burton's 3D animation Frankenweenie.

There will also be a competitive element to the festival, with awards given for Best Film, Best First Feature and Best Documentary, and a £5,000 bursary for the Best British Newcomer.
