Kate Thornton has told how she was mugged whilst in the park with her four-year-old son.

The original X Factor presenter was inundated with responses from celebrities and other followers after she recounted the incident on Twitter, saying she was "shaken and furious".

She said: "I was mugged today in the park in front of my four-year-old son and his friend, hope the two lowlife scumbags who did it reap what they sow #karma."

Emma Bunton, Natalie Appleton, Robbie Savage, Jill Halfpenny and Holly Willoughby were among those who tweeted their support for the 39-year-old.

Kate responsed: "Thanks for all your lovely tweets. Me and the kids are fine and the police were amazing."

Speaking to This Morning presenter Holly she said that the "kids were scared, but probably because I screamed at the top of my lungs."
