'Bridget Jones' returns in new Helen Fielding novel

Wednesday February 6, 2013

Bridget Jones's Diary author Helen Fielding has confirmed that the famous singleton will be making a return in a new book.

The highly-anticipated novel, which follows best-sellers Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason, will be published in November.

The story will be set in present-day London, with Bridget at a later stage in her life.

The author, whose book was based on her newspaper column depicting a 30-something single woman living in London, said: "My life has moved on and Bridget's will move on, too.

"I hope people will have as much fun reading it, as I am writing it."

On the big screen, Bridget Jones's Diary, starring Renee Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth, was released in 2001 and was followed by Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason three years later.

A third film, Bridget Jones's Baby, was thought to be in the works.

But Eric Fellner, of British production company Working Title Films, recently admitted the project's future was uncertain, telling ComingSoon.net:

"Well, we're always looking at it. "We'll only do it if we can crack it creatively so maybe we will, maybe we won't. We'll see what happens. If we can get it right next year, we'll try and do it next year, but if we can't, we won't."
