Prince William is to play the part of a stricken casualty and be winched into a helicopter as part of his training to become a search and rescue pilot.
The 27-year-old, who is dating brunette beauty Kate Middleton, will be hauled aboard an aircraft to learn what it is like to be airlifted in treacherous conditions.
The exercise is said to be the toughest stage of the Prince's six-month training to date.
"For the pilot to know what the winchman is going through he has to experience it for himself," one of William's instructors told The Sun newspaper.
"There will be no favours. We can't cope with any weak links.
"The people that work with him have to be secure in the knowledge that he is as good as them. Otherwise I won't allow him on to the front line."
