Outspoken Karl on 'fat' Adele and 'unnecessary' Queen

Wednesday February 8, 2012

Outspoken Karl Lagerfeld is never one to hold back his opinions.

And his latest targets are singer Adele, who he says is "too fat", and the British Royal Family which he deems "unnecessary".

The German fashion guru made the remarks in an interview with global newspaper Metro, which he was guest-editing for the day.

Asked for his opinion on pop music, the designer said: "The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice."

Karl also described the Queen as "a more smiley version" of her grandmother.

"In terms of what she wears, she's come into herself a little bit more - whatever that is," he said.

The creative director for Chanel did admit the monarchy is good for tourism because it brings in money.

"It's totally unnecessary, but it's pleasant. Why not have the monarchy? People can dream about it," he added.
