Tearful James Franco receives Hollywood star

Friday March 8, 2013

James Franco cemented his place in film history this week as he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The proud actor choked back tears as he was honored with the plaque on the famous sidewalk, thanking his friends, family and colleagues for their support.

"I wish that I could put a bunch of names on this star because this is a collaborative business," he said as he took to the podium during a special ceremony.

"The people behind the scenes, the people who have been there for me, all the way through. If I could I'd put all your names on there. Thank you, and I'll always remember this."

The 127 Hours star, 34, was supported on his big day by his novelist mother Betsy and his younger actor brother Dave.

Director Sam Raimi, who has worked with James on a number of films, including Oz the Great and Powerful, was one of the guest speakers at the event.

He said: "Today we join the rest of the world to honour you in your achievements with a much-deserved star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame".
