Duchess of Alba criticises son for objection to marriage

Thursday September 8, 2011

Spain's premier aristocrat isn't mincing words about opposition to plans for her to marry again, aged 85.

The Duchess of Alba, seen here at a recent bullfight, blasted 57-year-old Jacobo, one of her six children, for his disapproval.

On October 5, she will tie the knot for the third time in her ancestral palace Las Dueñas in Seville.

Her husband-to-be is a civil servant, 24 years her junior, named Alfonso Diez (pictured right).

Asked if her off-spring are behind the match, the noblewoman said: "Only one isn't which is bad and he lies more than all of them.

"And that's Jacobo because his wife isn't nice and she's jealous.

"All my children support me, except him because of (her)."

The bride – whose first name is Cayetana – recently gave away the bulk of her estimated £3bn fortune to her daughter and five sons to smooth over opposition.
