Kristin Davis found adoption 'terrifying'

Kristin Davis has revealed that she felt petrified when she held her adopted daughter for the first time - in case she had to give her back.

The Sex And The City star admitted she had mixed emotions as she welcomed Gemma Rose last summer.

"It is terrifying, partly because with adoption you always know there's the chance that it won't work. So you're on pins and needles," she told American host Anderson Cooper on his show.

The 47-year-old explained: "They tell you that when it first comes, you should think of it as babysitting in case the birth mum changes her mind.

"So you're trying to think that you're a babysitter but that's kind of impossible!"

Kristin, whose Sex And The City alter-ego Charlotte also adopted a baby girl, admitted the process wasn't easy.

"When I first got her I would sleep with her on my chest, because when you adopt you're very concerned about bonding," she said.
