'Delighted' Queen to become a great-grandmother

Friday July 9, 2010

Exciting news for the British royal family – Peter Phillips and his wife Autumn are going to have a baby.

The Queen is said to be overjoyed at the prospect of becoming a great-grandmother for the first time, when the baby arrives in December.

Buckingham Palace released a statement with the happy news: "Peter and Autumn Phillips are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in December.

"The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh as well as Autumn's family have been informed and are delighted with the news."

The couple are at the moment living in Hong Kong, where Peter works for the Royal Bank of Scotland, in their sponsorship division. It's not known whether they'll come back to the UK for the birth.

Peter married Autumn in May 2008 during a fairytale ceremony at Windsor castle – and the exclusive pictures appeared in HELLO! magazine.

The Queen's eldest grandson met Autumn at the Montreal Grand Prix, where they were both working. Initially, he didn't tell her about his royal connections.

Relive the magic of Peter and Autumn's special day.
