Camilla sees funny side in pony's 'call of nature' timing

Wednesday June 10, 2009

The Duchess of Cornwall saw the funny side of things when confronted with a potentially embarassing moment at the Exmoor Pony Centre on Tuesday.

Camilla, who was there to meet staff and ponies at the Moorland Mousie Trust, a charity of which she is patron, nimbly jumped aside when Barney, a three-year-old colt, decided to relieve himself at the moment the pair met.
"That was perfect timing!" she exclaimed, drawing laughter from those around her.
This time the visit went ahead, but it had been rescheduled twice. The original date in September was cancelled after a last-minute event to meet flood victims was substituted into her schedule, and the second arragement in March, had to be postponed as the Duchess was suffering from bronchitis.

"I'm really pleased to be able to come back," she told staff. "This is third time lucky and I have brought the sun with me, no floods this time"
