Will Smith's girl Willow, nine, wins record contract

Friday September 10, 2010

She's not even reached double digits and Will Smith's daughter has bagged her first recording deal.

Willow – the superstar's little girl with wife Jada Pinkett Smith – has been signed by Jay-Z's Roc Nation label, with her first single Whip My Hair already available online.

This year, the charismatic youngster had a crash course in red carpet appearances while touring with her brother Jaden, 12, as he promoted his remake of The Karate Kid.

Rap mogul Jay-Z - who is married to Beyonce - has compared to her to a young Michael Jackson.

"She has a child's innocence but she has a clear vision of who she is and who she wants to be," he explained.

"I can only imagine that's how Mike [Michael Jackson] was as a young kid, he knew exactly what he wanted.

"When you have that sort of talent, there is no such thing as too young."

"I heard the record first before I knew that it was recorded by a nine-year-old and I was like, man that record's a smash," he enthused.
