Judges cull 'X Factor' four

Monday October 10, 2011

A record number of contestants were voted off X Factor in the show’s latest twist

Four hopefuls were given their marching orders and saw their dream of a recording contract come grinding to a halt.

Essex duo, 2 Shoes, Jonjo Kerr, James Michael and Amelia Lily are the unlucky acts who are heading home.

Each of the judges were forced to sacrifice one of the acts they were mentoring.

Tulisa, who is in charge of the groups category, said she struggled to make a choice.

"You can't imagine how much of a hard decision this has been for me."

And it was a bitter blow for Amelia (pictured), who burst into tears on being given the news by her mentor Kelly Rowland.

Meanwhile, serving soldier Jonjo Kerr could be back on the frontline now his bid for X Factor fame is over.

His mentor Louis Walsh said that it was a "really tough decision" to get rid of the 27-year-old.
