Mick Hucknall given lifetime achievement award

Thursday October 11, 2012

Mick Hucknall is to receive a lifetime achievement award from The Radio Academy.

With his band Simply Red, Mick has sold more than 13 million albums in the UK and has won two Brits and one Ivor Novello award.

Previous winners of the award include Paul Weller, Ronnie Wood, Gary Barlow and Sir Paul McCartney.

Mick is delighted to be given the honour.

He said: "I'm delighted that The Radio Academy have chosen to give me their lifetime achievement award this year."

"As a singer and songwriter, you just keep doing what you're doing, and it's great to know that the people in radio - people making decisions about what music the world listens to - continue to like what I do, and to support my work."

The singer will be given the award during this year's Radio Festival in Manchester on November 13.
