Boyzone 'pull it together' for Stephen Gately tribute

Friday March 12, 2010

Now a four-piece band, the members of Boyzone came together on Thursday night for a poignant performance - one of their first since the tragic death of bandmate Stephen Gately.

Arm-in-arm as they sang their new track, Gave it all Away, the heart-throbs reduced the audience at London's Royal Albert Hall to tears as they remembered their good friend.

"Stephen would pat us on the arm tonight and say: ‘Pull it together'," 33-year-old Shane Lynch said ahead of the performance, which was part of Ronan Keating's solo show.

"He lived in a fantasy and didn’t like dealing with reality. Tonight it is our reality, though," he added.

"We’ve had more time to adjust but for the crowd it will be very emotional."

The band's new album, Brother, is steadily making its way to the top spot in this week's charts.
