Princess Charlene's joy as she meets Desmond Tutu

Tuesday July 12, 2011

Monaco's new Princess Charlene beamed with joy as she was welcomed by Desmond Tutu as co-patron of a group of ten charities in her native South Africa.

The global peace icon completely charmed the royal newlywed, telling her she was beautiful and that she already looked regal in photographs.

"I'm taking him home," she told the crowd at a ceremony at a local clinic in Cape Town.

Charlene joins Desmond as co-patron of The Giving Organisation Trust, which encompasses a group of charities focusing on issues ranging from HIV to children and environmental protection.

“We are very thrilled because you have a heart,” Desmond told the former sportswoman.

“It shows that you care and we just want to say a very big thank you to God that you should have wanted to use your celebrity for other people."
