Paul McCartney to front Nirvana reunion

Wednesday December 12, 2012

Sir Paul McCartney will be fronting grunge band Nirvana, according to reports.

The Beatles singer will take Kurt Cobain's spot in the band for the evening to raise funds for Superstorm Sandy victims in New York on Wednesday night.

As well as performing for a good cause, Paul has played a key role in reuniting the band members, who have not played together in 20 years.  He said: "I didn't really know who they were.

"They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said 'Whoa? You guys haven't played together for all that time?'

"And somebody whispered to me 'That's Nirvana. You're Kurt." I couldn't believe it."

Although bassist Krist Novoselic has stepped out of the limelight since his fame, Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl is still experiencing a great deal of musical success.

Kurt Cobain, the lead singer of the group, committed suicide in 1994.
