Sienna Miller will star in a film adaptation of Jane Austen’s Lady Susan.
Sienna will play the title role, a manipulative widow who attempts to find a new husband for herself and her daughter. Chloe Sevigny will also play a role as a close friend of Sienna’s character.
“The other two early novels written by Jane Austen went on to become Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility,” said the film’s director Whit Stillman. “The story of the brilliant Lady Susan Vernon’s struggles with the wealthy, smug De Courcy clan is perhaps her most sparkling comedy.”
“In our search for the right Susan, Sienna Miller showed how the role might be infused with freshness and verve,” he added. “She is a wonderful talent who will lead a brilliant ensemble cast.”
