Mel C: 'Baby Scarlett saved me from bulimia'

Friday May 13, 2011

Mel C has told how becoming a mum saved her from the grip of an eating disorder.

The former Spice Girl, who had a well documented battle with bulimia proclaimed: "Scarlet hasn't just changed my life, she's saved it."

The singer admitted that falling pregnant with her daughter allowed her to stop worrying about herself and instead focus on someone else.

"As my bump grew the more proud I became of my body and suddenly I felt more comfortable eating healthily."

"I put on almost 50 pounds and I certainly wasn't in any rush to shed my baby weight. There's too much pressure on mums to ping back into shape."

The pop star gave birth in February 2009 and was the last of the Spice girls to do so after concentrating on a successful solo career.
