Michael Douglas "devastated" after son's arrest

Thursday August 13, 2009

Michael Douglas and his first wife Diandra have spoken for the first time since their son Cameron's recent arrest.

The 30-year-old DJ was detained after allegedly being caught dealing illegal substances at an upmarket hotel in Manhattan.

"The family is devastated and very disappointed in Cameron's recent behavior," says the statement released by Michael's spokesperson.

"Any family who has dealt with substance abuse knows how devastating it can be."

Although Cameron was originally released on bail, he is now being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York after he violated the terms of his home detention by allegedly asking his girlfriend to bring him an electric toothbrush with heroin inside it.

He faces a minimum sentence of ten years in prison if convicted of charges that he sold thousands of dollars worth of methamphetamine, also known as Crystal Meth.
