One of the biggest plot lines in soap history is set to be brought back to life as the cast of Dallas will give JR Ewing a funeral to remember. The episode will pay tribute to Larry Hagman, who played the villainous oil tycoon and sadly died of cancer over the Thanksgiving weekend.

The actor has played JR in both runs of the show, portarying the businessman in the Who Shot Jr? episode, which led to a record 53 million audience tuning in to see who was behind the act.

The remake of the show, which first aired in Britain on September 12, features Desperate Housewives actors Jesse Metcalfe and Josh Henderson as the tycoon's sons Christopher and John Ross Ewing.

The eighth episode of the reboot will feature the funeral, which will be aired in America on March 11.
