Countess Alexandra mourning loss of father

Thursday January 14, 2010

Prince Joachim of Denmark's ex-wife Countess Alexandra of Frederiksborg is in mourning for her father Richard Nigel Manley, who has died aged 85.

The pensioner, who was born in Shanghai in 1924 and worked there as the director of an insurance company, passed away after a short illness.

He died in a Vienna hospital surrounded by his family; his wife (pictured) and three daughters and will be buried during a private funeral.

Richard lived for some time in the royal residence Schackenborg Castle, where he moved with his wife Christa to be near their daughter.

Even after their daughter's separation in 2004 they continued residing there, and only moved out in 2008 when Joachim's new wife Marie arrived.
