Prince William receives his wings with 'flying colours'

Friday January 15, 2010

It'll be a celebratory weekend for the future king, Prince William.

The 27-year-old was joined by girlfriend Kate Middleton as he received his wings on Friday after completing an advanced helicopter training course.

This achievement takes him one step closer to becoming an RAF search and rescue pilot.

William was presented with a flying badge by his father, alongside fellow students at RAF Shawbury.

The Ministry of Defence said he passed with "flying colours".

Next up for the prince is a course to teach him how to manoeuvre the aircraft with pinpoint accuracy, enabling him to rescue stricken mountaineers or exhausted swimmers in treacherous conditions.
