Tom Ford's grooming advice for Prince Charles

Friday June 15, 2012

Former creative director of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, Tom Ford, met the heir to the British throne at a fashion party at St James Palace on Thursday and fashion writer Derek Blasberg posted details of their exchange on Twitter.

He wrote: "Fresh off the plane to London. Not showered, not shaved... and going to St James Palace for Prince Charles' British Fashion party. No biggie.

"Just met Prince Charles. Charming, jolly fellow. Tom Ford suggested (to him, mind you) a new cuticle cream. Its official: I'm a royalist now (sic)."

Charles has been praised for his fashion sense but recently admitted he was surprised to be named one of GQ’s Best Dressed Men in March.

He told the magazine: “I must say, it was a complete surprise to learn recently that I had been voted one of GQ’s Best Dressed Men. It wasn’t so long ago I was voted by another panel of judges the Worst Dressed.

"I took it very much as a vote for what can perhaps best be described as the classic and timeless look of British style. If what I am told by the tailors and shirt- and shoe-makers I come into contact with is true, then this look is very much the envy of the world.”
