Billy Ray: 'Hannah Montana' 'destroyed my family'

Wednesday February 16, 2011

Country singer Billy Ray Cyrus has revealed his regrets concerning his daughter Miley's stardom.

Talking about Hannah Montana, the programme that made Miley, 18, an international superstar, he says: "The damn show destroyed my family… It's all sad."

His comments came after the former Disney actress was pictured smoking a hallucinogenic herb.

The Country pin-up also filed for divorce from Miley's mother Tish last year.

Asked if he wishes the teenager, now a multi-millionaire, had never been cast in the Disney series, Billy Ray replies: "I hate to say it, but yes, I do. Heck, yeah.

"I'd erase it all in a second if I could.

"For my family to be here and just everybody be okay, safe and sound and happy and normal, would have been fantastic."

The Achy Breaky Heart singer said he felt helpless to intervene, adding: "I'm scared for Miley."
