Lewis Hamilton pays emotional visit to Haiti

Friday May 16, 2014

Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton has paid an emotional visit to Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince as he travelled with UNICEF.

The 29-year-old met with children and babies suffering from malnutrition, describing the experience as “heart-breaking”.

“Right now 20 million children around the world are suffering with severe acute malnutrition,” said an emotional Lewis. “I met a two-year-old boy called Dovensley who was so weak he hasn’t been able to learn how to walk.”

Lewis will join other celebrities such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador David Beckham for TV appeal Soccer Aid, to raise money for UNICEF.

This year’s appeal will take place at Manchester’s Old Trafford stadium on 8 June, and will be broadcast live on ITV.
