Last two hopefuls reach finals of The Apprentice

Thursday December 16, 2010

Stella English and Chris Bates have reached the final of The Apprentice.

On Wednesday's show, Lord Sugar fired three candidates – Stuart Baggs, Joanna Riley and Jamie Lester – leaving two remaining competitors to go head-to-head in Sunday's showdown.

For the ultimate episode, Stella, 30, and Chris must design, manufacture and market a new alcoholic drink, aided by a team of previously-fired candidates.

They will then present their prototypes to industry experts, as well as Lord Sugar and his advisers, Karren Brady and Nick Hewer.

This week provided arguably the most dramatic moment of the series, when 21-year-old Stuart exited the competition.

Having faced a series of tough interviews as part of the selection process, the controversial candidate was fired after it emerged he had lied on his application form about the licensing of his business.

Clearly angered, Lord Sugar told Stuart: "I don’t believe a word you say. I'm annoyed with myself, Stuart, that you have been allowed to come this far."
